FF&E sourcing: compare the complete order

Compare suppliers against the same dimensions, finish requirements, quantities and technical information.

One specification for comparison

Compare suppliers against the same dimensions, finish requirements, quantities and technical information. An attractive product photograph cannot establish the construction, durability or fit of a piece. Keep substitutions visible and request sample or shop-drawing information that answers the design questions.

Include the route to site

The factory price is only one part of the comparison. Identify packing, transport, handling, storage and installation. Imported supply also requires agreed customs and logistics responsibilities. Confirm these with the appointed specialists for the actual order instead of applying a generic allowance to every project.

Approve what will be made

Document the approved sample, finish code, drawing revision and inspection criteria. A supplier should know what counts as an acceptable variation. Review first articles or mock-ups where repeated production makes a small error expensive to correct. Keep the agreed record available to the receiving team.

Coordinate installation

Confirm site dimensions and readiness before dispatch. Custom joinery and oversized furniture need a delivery route and suitable access. Agree who protects, installs and inspects the products, and how outstanding items are recorded at handover. SATU Atelier can be included in these supply discussions.

Bring the right information

Share the project location, approximate area, current stage, available drawings, intended budget and target programme. We can use this information to define a useful first review and the scope of the next stage.
